smoke bounds down
the mountain
like brown fountain
drowning the trees
like the wails and screams
of the fire rescue team
rising higher and higher
like a plateau of dreams
behind a smokescreen
the reality deeply
more disturbing
the dragons tail curving
our cities monument
burning, once prominent
now subdominant
to the flames omnipotence
like a time lapse
a few moments pass
and smoldering ash
replaces the grass
evacuate
the towns ablaze
it's just another
Missoula summer day
